We got in a few
trips this week. Saturday produced a huge 98lb. wahoo along with 2
about 45lbs. We had 2 yellowfins in the 50lb. range, three cobia and
all the amberjacks you could
stand. Jigs or bait you could't keep them off. We also caught a few
gag grouper. There was losts of bait around the rigs in
300-400ft. and the water was beautiful. There were a fair amount of
cobia at the rigs around 300ft. I'm sure we'll be running into more
as it gets warmer.
Yesterday we had a group from Michigan that had
never been in the Gulf before. we had beautiful blue water but much
less bait around. We had 2 wahoo, one about 60lbs. and the other about 40lbs. We lost 2 others.
We saw several cobia but only managed to get one in the box. The
amberjacks were thick everywhere we stopped to bottom fish. At one
point we had 4 on at one time. The boys from Michigan thought salmon
pulled hard, the AJ's really changed their thinking. We finished the
day off with a bunch of beeliners and a few scamps. One of our bunch
said he was happy to catch something that didn't hurt him.
We have 3 trips next week including
a 30hr. Safari trip. Hopefully we'll have good weather and hungry
fish. I'll have the report next week.
Till then,

| 4/12/08 | Wind, Wind, Wind! Had to cancel
yesterday and today. The next few days look the same. Hopefully this weather will calm down soon. Till then the fish are safe. Captain Lenny ________________________________________________________________________________________________

| 4/20/08. | Hey we got to sail today and the weather
was great. The Amberjacks were hungry and there was plenty of them
up to the 50lb. class. We ended up with our limit of AJ's, 20 nice
scamps, a pile of beeliners, one tilefish and a few other deepwater
critters. Saw a few lemonfish but none wanted to go in the box. We
also lost one wahoo hooked on a jig. Lets hope the weather is
starting to settle down and we can in more trips than we cancel for
a change. Next Time, Captain Lenny

| 5/15/08 | I haven't posted a report lately because we've had so much wind
we only made 2 offshore trips in the last 3 weeks.
We had a good mixed catch of AJ's, grouper, beeliners and tilefish 2 weeks ago. No real big groupers 6-15lb. fish , AJ's ran in the mid 40lb. class. We also rounded out the box with a few deepwater oddballs. This made for a good trip. Last Sat. we got out and it was a snotty ride home. We were eaten up by sharks most places we tried to fish. There were big sharks eating 40lb. amberjacks and small sharks eating up our rigs including the lead. We finally managed to find a shark free area and landed some 50lb. AJ's and one in the low 60's. We found a few grouper and a ton of beeliners and the fattest bunch of white porgies I've seen in a long time. These ran 3-4+lbs. and we had over 30 of them. We ended up with a fair box of fish and went through a huge amount of tackle. We've got a few overnight trips planned for the next week. Hopefully the weather will settle down and we'll find some swordfish. Till next time, Captain Lenny |
| 6/4/08 | Hey all, the weather has been much better and the fishing has
been good. The grouper have been steady, mostly scamps and
yellowedge with a few gags thrown in. Amberjacks have been no
problem to find at most of the deep rigs. Black snapper have really
turned on in the last 2 weeks. We had them up to 9lbs. along with
plenty of 4-5lb. fish. Red snapper opened Sunday and limits were
easy to come by. The only fish that have been hard to come by have
been cobia. I just haven't seen many at all this year. For whatever
reason lemonfish have been few and far between this year. We'll be fishing a lot in the next few weeks. Red snapper is in season for just 2 more months. If you are interested in a Snapper trip, we still have some dates open. Remember it's not about the fishing, it's about the catching, Captain Lenny |

______________________________________________________________________________ Hey all, Captain Steve and I ran several trips lately and the story is very good! We have brown water out 70+ miles but that's not affecting the bottomfish bite. The AJ's and grouper have been steady and the snapper have been very good. Thursday we had the gang from MS Outdoors filming on the Chicken and they said this was the best fishing trip they had ever gone on. The biggest snapper of the day was 26lbs. They had AJ's in the 50lb. range along with scamps, beeliners, lemonfish and tilefish. The only complaining I heard was about sore arms. We'll be planning another trip with them soon, this time for tuna and swordfish. The next day Steve found blue water a little further to the southeast. He beat up the triggerfish along with the usual bottomfish catch and found a 20lb. mahi under a weed mat and lost a few others There are so many kings to our east that it's hard to catch bait. They keep tearing up your sabiki rigs once you hook up the hardtails. The deep rigs to the east are also full of big barracudas and they like to cut scamps in half so get them in the boat quick. The summer pattern is here and fishing is good at the shelf and beyond. It's a long run but it's worth the ride. Till next time, Captain Lenny |

Sorry I haven't posted any reports lately but we've been busy
catching fish. The brown water is still out past 70 miles but the
current has settled down a lot and the action has been great. AJ's
have been easy targets all season and the grouper have been steady.
We found a patch of bottom that's totally covered in beeliners with
scamps and gags mixed in. It really doesn't get any better than
that. Snappers season has a few more weeks left so we're trying to
get our share before it's over. The Chicken has been running 3-4 trips a week and we had only one weather day in 6 weeks. Captain Steve had a great day last week with a 48 and 52lb. Snowie Grouper on the same day. That's strong in anyone's book. If you want in on catching a bunch of great eating fish give us a call. Next time, Captain Lenny |
